Providing security patrols throughout the District is the primary activity of the Tower Grove South Concerned Citizens SBD. Since the District’s inception, the TGSCC-SBD has provided supplemental security patrols (i.e., supplemental to the ongoing policing activity of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department) throughout the District. Supplemental security patrols are scheduled throughout the week at various times and are staffed by off-duty police officers (who are uniformed, armed, carry police radios, and have arresting authority).
City Wide Security (CWS) is the St. Louis-based security company contracted to provide supplemental security patrols for the District. CWS provides mobile (car) security patrols throughout the District and utilizes crime statistics tracking, ongoing communication with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, and direction from the TGSCC-SBD Board of Commissioners to determine the timing and to maximize the effectiveness of supplemental patrols in the District.
All areas of the District are patrolled during each shift, including streets, alleys, and parking lots. GPS technology is used to ensure complete and timely coverage of the District.
